Most of us all know the legend of Bloody Mary.. but do you know the real story? There are lots of variations of the tale, but only one truth.
Just in case you haven't heard of it, here's the history behind Mary:
Mary was the Queen of England and Ireland from 1553 until her death. Mary was the daughter of King Henry and the half sister of Queen Elizabeth I. She was known for her burnings at the stake and for being brutal. Which brings us to her name, "Bloody Mary." She was called Bloody Mary because she executed so many innocent people for no reason. She was also known for using the guillotine, her favorite method of delivering death. She was then executed by her own cousin for murdering so many civilians.
Here is the legend:
It has been said that if you step inside of a dark room and say "bloody Mary" multiple times while turning around several times, Bloody Mary will come into the room and scratch or "shank" out your eyes. There are other variations of the tale, also stating that she will appear in the mirror and the brave soul who dared to awaken the ghost of Queen Mary will end up deceased.
